CYNEFIN - Mixed-Use Residential House

Unlike in the early days, most residents of Malé today are strangers; some maybe familiar strangers, but strangers nonetheless. The reason of this is that tall building doesn’t necessarily lend themselves to being social buildings, rather they seem more isolating and inward with awkward elevator rides.

The main focus of the building is to unite people to build community and transform spaces into a safer and more joyful environment improvement. The building encourages people to come together and interact with each other to create meaningful conversations despite the differences that they might have.

Ground floor, first floor and roof terrace serve as a communal area, breaking down the social barriers and motivating the people to interact together. The basement of the building is used as parking so that there would be lesser number of vehicles parked on the narrow street creating a safer neighborhood. Rest of the building is residential floors of 2 room, 3 room and studio apartments where the tenants can carry out their daily activities without any disturbance and at the same time be connected to the surrounding external environment.
