HEGDE HARBOUR - Client House

A place of being safe and protected against adverse circumstances.

The client of the house is the serial killer Dexter Morgan.

The concept is based on how the client blends in with the other people in the community, workplace, family and close relationships. The fundamental concept for the design comes through the architectural features of the preexisting buildings on the island. And the idea is to transform the space by blending the spaces by incorporating designs which are similar to the features of the surrounding environment. Therefore, features such as edges, large windows, textures used on the island and sloped roofs are incorporated in the design.

Even though he barely let people in his house he prefers to be precautions and has his secret compartments carefully hidden within the house. These hidden compartments are used to dismember his victims safely with no interruption and to hide his victims' blood which he keeps as trophies. Since he needs to overpower his victims, he requires a gym to follow a daily routine exercise routine. And also, a study room to research and find conclusive evidences that the victims are guilty. 2/3rd of the building is cantilevered by inspired from the mental stability of the client. One part of the house balances the rest just like how the code he follows balances his life.
